APPLES OF GOLD

“A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.” Provers 25:11

Appalachian Christian Outreach used to have a news letter by this title. And now seems so fitting for us to use it again. This page will have words that the Lord has spoken to different people, and we want to share them with the greater body of Christ.

“But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men.”1 Cor. 14:3. The words that will be posted here will follow this guideline - edification, exhortation and comfort. This will be a space where you can find encouragement.

If you have an encouraging word to submit please do so by e-mail.

2007, Chet Covert

The Year 2007 is the year of 007

I AM going to reveal the secret things of heaven and My heart to those I love.

I AM going to expose the good, the bad and the ugly in peoples lives, this exposure will purify the hearts of My people, that I may show more of My love, mercy and faithfulness to them.

In 007 I will reveal the secret things of My heart is a greater way to My people. I will begin to release the treasures of My heart to those I love.

Better to be lowly in the spirit and among the oppressed than to share plunder with the proud.  (Proverbs 16.19)

Lowly in spirit.  Jesus Himself said, “… for I’m gentle and lowly in heart…” Even the circumstances of His birth speak of lowliness.  Born in a stable, placed in a manger.  Things don’t get much lower than that!  Aren’t you glad that Jesus wasn’t born in a place to which none of us could relate?  Born with only Joseph, Mary and the animals as witnesses, He came gently, quietly but with great power.  The power that Jesus came with drew shepherds away from their flocks, caused angels to sing in the heavenlies and made kings depart from a far country in the hopes of finding the newly born king.  Jesus birth was truly remarkable and, yet, strangely … quiet.  Will it be this way when He returns to gather His people and bring us to Himself?  Or will the trumpet be heard here on earth as loudly as it will be in heaven?  Truly the trumpet will sound, but who exactly will hear it?  Oh that we could know the mysteries of His triumphant return!

Among the oppressed.  Jesus was truly among the oppressed.  From birth until death we see no royal robes, no golden palaces.  Jesus Himself could not be oppressed and yet He willingly took a place among those who had suffered for a lifetime.  The blind beggar, the man with leprosy, the woman with the issue of blood, the man at the pool at Bethsaida, the multitudes.  Why?  Jesus came to identify Himself with fallen humanity.  To save the suffering sinner, to heal the brokenhearted, to bind up the weary and wounded.  Jesus said, “I did not come to be served but to serve, and to give My life as a ransom for many.”  Oh, that we could fully understand the joy set before Him as He endured the cross to set the captives free!  The joy of knowing that He would be the firstborn among many brethren.  Jesus knew that only through the cross would brothers and sisters abound.  And that, in a way we can not understand, those brothers and sisters would become His beautiful bride.  This is beyond our understanding, and yet it is completely glorious.  Glory to God!
